Bundgarden police on Saturday arrested an arms shop owner and his associate for obtaining arms licences by submitting forged documents to the office of the Pune police commissioner. In July 2012,Kailas Sadashiv Bhosale,a junior clerk working with the CP office, was arrested for using his access to official records to get a arms licence by submitting forged documents.
Those arrested are Saifuddin Shujauddin Noorani,55,a resident of Bramha Horizon society,Lullanagar, and his aide Chandrakant Narayan Parapalli,33,a resident of Guruwar Peth. Noorani is the owner of Safari Arms and Ammunition,an arms shop based in Sadhu Vaswani Chowk, and Parapalli is his employee.
Noorani has been running his shop for the last 15 years and he is the main accused in the case. Bhosale was a frequent visitor to his shop. Parapalli also obtained a licence by submitting forged document with Bhosales help and had also bought a gun from the shop, police said.
Police said Noorani operated with Bhosale and sold arms to two customers, who are now police witnesses.
Earlier, police had arrested clerk Bhosale and alleged middleman Ajay Agarwal,46,for forging records to issue a firearms licence in favour of one Vasant Kokane. Investigations revealed that Kokane had been trying to get the licence for the last two years but his application was rejected as he could not justify his need for the weapon. Bhosale allegedly attached fake documents to the records register and managed to get a duplicate licence issued in the name of Kokane in return of money.
