Bihar Police is conducting raids in Patna, Delhi and other places in search of one Manish Kashyap, who it said was a key accused behind circulation of fake videos and writing social media posts as if migrant workers were being attacked in Tamil Nadu. The police are also looking for Yuvraj Singh, a Youtuber, for the same offence.
On Sunday, Tamil Nadu Police brought another accused, a 32-yea- old native of Bihar identified as Prashant Kumar, on transit remand from Jharkhand to Tirupur and produced him before a local court that sent him to judicial custody. Prashant Kumar, settled in Henegare in Jharkhand, was arrested on March 11 for posting false information on his social media page and spreading rumours about the alleged attacks on migrant workers in Tirupur.
The Economic Offences Unit of Bihar Police registered a second case against Manish Kashyap and three others for shooting a provocative video at a Patna house on March 6. Manish has seven cases pending against him, including one for beating up some persons from Kashmir post-Pulwama terror attack in 2019.
Tamil Nadu Police has already registered 13 cases.
Bihar ADGP Jitendra Singh Gangwar said: “We had given notice to the accused, Manish Kashyap and Yuvraj Singh, but they did not show up. Our teams have been conducting raids in Patna, Delhi and other places.” Yuvraj is an accused in a Coimbatore case. “We questioned one Rakesh Ranjan. He revealed that the video posted by Manish was shot at a Patna house on March 6 with intention to mislead police investigations.”
