Youth killed in road accident

A 20-year-old youth was killed when a truck hit the motorcycle he was riding in Central Mumbai’s Worli area on Thursday morning.

A 20-year-old youth was killed when a truck hit the motorcycle he was riding in Central Mumbai’s Worli area on Thursday morning. The deceased has been identified as Nikhil Tambe. Police officers said the incident took place on the Ganpatrao Kadam Marg near the Banaraswala chawl. “Tambe was on his way to Dadar when the accident took place around 7.20 am on Thursday. The driver escaped from the spot. Tambe was rushed to hospital but succumbed to his injuries,” said an officer of the Worli police. “The driver,identified as Harikesh Patel (36),was later nabbed around 3.30 pm. He has been charged with rash and negligent driving and causing death by negligence. Further investigations are on,” said the officer.
