Youth found hanging,cops suspect murder

A 19-year-old youth,Deepak Gupta,was found hanging from a pipe on the terrace of a commercial complex in Malad on Wednesday morning.

A 19-year-old youth,Deepak Gupta,was found hanging from a pipe on the terrace of a commercial complex in Malad on Wednesday morning. Police said Guptas head was crushed with a brick and suspect he was murdered.

Gupta owned a bakery in the complex along with his elder brother Sohanlal. He stayed with his brothers family at Dheeraj Saraswati Building off the Link Road,Malad. He used to reach his shop Designer Cakes,Chocolates and More early morning. While Gupta managed the shops cash counter,his brother dealt with the shops outdoor marketing.

On Tuesday night,Gupta left his shop to go to the toilet on the building premises. But he didnt return. On Wednesday morning when the watchman of the building went to the terrace,he saw Guptas body. His head was crushed by a brick, said police inspector Deepak Phatangare of the Malad police station.

When his brother didnt return,Sohan Lal thought that he must have gone out with friends.

Later he grew worried. Sohan Lal had searched for his brother throughout the night. Around 3 am,had approached us. We thought we would file a missing persons case. But it turned out to be a murder case, said senior police inspector Maruti Rathod.

The police are investigating the case. At present,it is very difficult to ascertain the motive behind the urder. We have got some crucial leads and are probing all possible angles, said Rathod.

The police have questioned the watchman and will be speaking to the residents of the building.
