Youth arrested in theft case tries to flee,nabbed again

A youth arrested in a theft case attempted to flee from the Mazgaon court premises on Monday evening but was nabbed immediately.

Rahul Singh,30,behind bars since last month,tried to flee while he was being taken to a police vehicle after a court hearing. “He managed to cover a few metres,and stumbled upon a brick and fell. The police managed to nab him,” said a lawyer who witnessed the incident.

After spending a week in police custody,Singh was remanded in judicial custody and lodged in Arthur Road Jail. Byculla police have now lodged a fresh case against him for his escape attempt.
