A 20-year-old working on fabrication at an elevated car parking in a building in Ghatkopar (east) died after the parking pallet board fell on him on Monday.
The deceased Gufran Khan, a resident of Govandi and son of an autorickshaw driver, was working as a helper. He was rushed to the local Rajawadi hospital where he was declared dead. The local Pant Nagar police in Ghatkopar was informed about the incident following which an FIR was registered against the site supervisor and Gurfan’s employer for not providing necessary safety gear.
Ravidatt Sawant, senior inspector of Pant Nagar police station, said, “Khan was working at building number 141 in Vaibhav Park area when a pallet board above him fell onto him.” He was declared dead at the Rajawadi hospital, which then alerted the Pant Nagar police.
An FIR was registered under sections 304 (A) (causing death by negligence) and 34 (common intention) of the IPC. Both sections are bailable. So far no arrests have been made.
An officer said Gufran was employed with Pari Fabricators in Shivaji Nagar, owned by Imran Khan. The company was given fabrication work at the car park in Ghatkopar by AJ Elevators, whose supervisor Amol Kamble was also the supervisor at the Ghatkopar location where Gufran and three others were working. Based on the complaint by Gufran’s father, police registered the FIR against Imran Khan and Amol Kamble.
