The MMRDA on Thursday informed the Bombay High Court they would begin work on the second phase of the Metro rail corridor,Charkop-Bandra-Mankhurd,only after they get all the necessary clearances from the concerned ministries and authorities.
A division bench of Chief Justice Mohit Shah and Justice S J Katawala was hearing a public interest litigation filed by one Maloy Bhatt, who in his petition said,”The MMRDA had not taken into consideration whether the Metro rail route could be underground.
The petition stated that nine flyover bridges and sky walks, which were scheduled to be build, were scrapped so that the Metro rail project could get a go ahead. The petition further says that proper green clearances from the state and central government are not procured. MMRDA in its reply said,All the clearances will be taken and then only work would commence. The matter has been adjourned till December 20.
