The Central Railway will operate two special suburban services early on Sunday for participants of the Navy Half Marathon 2025, organised by the Western Naval Command (WNC). The overnight services on the Main and Harbour lines are aimed at providing convenient connectivity for runners travelling towards South Mumbai ahead of the event.

On the Main line, a special train will depart from Kalyan at 2.30 am and arrive at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) at 4 am. On the Harbour line, another special service will leave Panvel at 2.40 am and also reach CSMT at 4 am. Both services will halt at all stations along their respective routes, ensuring access for participants boarding from intermediate locations.

Officials said the arrangement has been made to support the large number of runners expected to travel to the starting point of the marathon during non-peak hours, when regular suburban services are limited. The Central Railway has advised passengers to take note of the timings and make use of the dedicated services.

The 2025 WNC Navy Half Marathon, organised by the Western Naval Command in Mumbai in partnership with Indian Oil, is being held as part of celebrations ahead of Navy Day, which falls on December 4. Since its inception in 2016, the event has grown exponentially, attracting over 18,000 participants annually.

This year, the marathon will take place on a route through South Mumbai, covering iconic landmarks such as Cross Maidan and Marine Drive. The event is expected to draw around 20,000 participants, with civilians and navy personnel running side by side to promote fitness, patriotism and a sense of maritime community.
