Mumbai: Watchman tries to kill top executive of a brand management firm after failed rape attempt, booked
Police said when the woman went to the bungalow to take her cats, the accused grabbed her and demanded physical favours.

The Mumbai police have launched a hunt for a man who allegedly attempted to kill a 38-year-old top executive of a brand management and business development entity at a bungalow in Madh, Malad on Monday after a failed attempt to rape her.
According to police, the accused worked as a caretaker-cum-watchman at a bungalow-cum- film production house in Vyaswadi in Madh in Malad (west). The woman lives in another bungalow in the neighbourhood.
According to sources in the police, on Monday afternoon, the accused told the woman that three of her cats had come to the bungalow-cum-production house and requested her to take the cats.
Police said when the woman went to the bungalow to take her cats, the accused grabbed her and demanded physical favours. When the woman resisted, he threatened to kill her and took her to a room inside the bungalow.
According to police, the accused tried to force himself upon the woman. When she resisted, he allegedly attacked her with a knife.
The woman sustained serious injuries on her neck and stomach. The accused locked the woman in the room of the production house and fled, said police.
The woman contacted his friend who was nearby. He rushed to her help and took her to the Kokilaben hospital. A police team reached the hospital and recorded her statement.
“We have lodged an attempt to murder case and are on the lookout for the accused,” said a police officer.
The accused has been booked under sections 62 (attempt to commit an offence), 64 (rape), 74 (molestion), 75 (sexual harrasment), 109 (attempt to murder), 118 (1) (causing hurt or grievous hurt by dangerous weapon), 127(2) (wrongful confinement) of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS).
“We have identified the accused and have not found any previous crime in his name,” said another police officer.
