Days after Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar recognised the faction led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde as the real Shiv Sena and refused to disqualify its MLAs, the Shiv Sena (UBT) said its chief Uddhav Thackeray will hold a mega town hall event opposing the decision. The event will be held at the NSCI dome in Worli on Tuesday. Making the announcement, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP and party spokesperson Sanjay Raut said, “It would be a first-of-its-kind press conference which would be addressed by Uddhav Thackeray ji. It would be a public teardown of the Speaker’s order on Shiv Sena. It would be open for the public and would be attended by experts too.” In his weekly column ‘Rok Thok’ in Sena (UBT) mouthpiece Saamana, Raut had alleged that Narwekar’s decision would “degenerate democracy”. The Shiv Sena (UBT) has said it will move the Supreme Court to oppose the Speaker’s decision.
