Uddhav slams Raj’s take on flyover plan

On Tuesday,following reports that guardian minister for the island city Jayant Patil had indicated that the flyover was now on the backburner,Raj had called the government’s decision elitist and discriminatory for taking into account the protests of well-heeled residents of Peddar Road while building several other infrastructure projects elsewhere without engaging local residents in dialogue.

“Lata Mangeshkar,Asha Bhosale and Sachin Tendulkar are Maharashtra’s icons. They should be respected. Maharashtra’s stature in the field of art and sports has grown due to these iconic personalities,” said Uddhav,adding that politics should not harm the image of these icons. “All are equal before the law,but it is surprising that the same people who demanded a legally untenable additional FSI for Sachin Tendulkar’s bungalow are now targeting Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosale…,” he said.

Raj responded by saying the real issue was not the Mangeshkars,but the government rethinking the flyover project just to appease a small and elite section of the society.
