Treasurer of South Mumbai college booked for outraging principal’s modesty: Police

According to personnel of Gamdevi police station, the 57-year-old principal lodged a complaint with them after the incident on Friday afternoon.

The treasurer of a South Mumbai college was booked for allegedly outraging the modesty of the college principal on April 19.

According to personnel of Gamdevi police station, the 57-year-old principal lodged a complaint with them after the incident on Friday afternoon. A case was registered later in the day.

The complaint by the principal stated that on April 19, a meeting was called at the second floor of the college at around 11.30am, in which the chairman, principal, general secretary, managing director and the treasurer were present.

The treasurer was sitting next to her in the meeting, the principal’s complaint mentioned. “I had to give an important document to the registrar of the college and as I also wanted to take some print outs, so I got up from the chair to go out, when the treasurer held my hand suddenly,” the principal said in her statement to police.

And when she asked him to let her go, the treasurer allegedly pushed her, the statement read. “I was shocked and felt very humiliated. After finishing my work, I told my husband about the incident following which I came to Gamdevi police station to lodge a complaint,” the principal told the police.

The Gamdevi police have registered a case under section 354 (outraging the modesty of the woman) of the IPC.
