Among them, 140 have been accepted, 75 have been rejected, while eight candidates have withdrawn their applications. The list of accepted applications also includes duplicate affidavits submitted by a single candidate.
Mumbai’s North Central constituency will see 27 contestants taking part in the polls which is highest in Mumbai, followed by 21 candidates in Mumbai North West constituency, 20 in Mumbai North East, 19 in Mumbai North, 15 in Mumbai South Central and 14 in Mumbai South.
Other than candidates from Bharatiya Janata Party, Shiv Sena, Shiv Sena (UBT), and Congress, candidates from regional parties like Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA), Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), and Social Unity Centre of India (SUCI) among other independent candidates will be contesting the polls.
Meanwhile, from Mumbai South, three independent candidates who had filed their nominations for contesting the polls last week had withdrawn their candidature. This apart, two independent candidates from Mumbai North and Mumbai North West have also withdrawn their candidature.
From Mumbai North Central, one candidate fielded by VBA has withdrawn his candidature.
The EC data also show that Mumbai this year has registered 53.24 lakh male voters and 45.68 lakh female voters.
