Central railway revises timetable for over 80 suburban train services
Commuters can expect several key adjustments across various routes, as approximately 83 suburban trains will now operate at revised timings on the Mumbai main line, the Central Railway informed.

The Central Railway has announced the implementation of a revised Mumbai Main Line suburban timetable, which is set to take effect on October 5. According to the Central Railway, the adjustments aim to streamline operations and improve punctuality, allowing passengers to plan their journeys more accurately and avoid delays resulting from mismatched schedules.
Commuters can expect several key adjustments across various routes, as approximately 83 suburban trains will now operate at revised timings on the main line, the Central Railway said.
A significant change is the extension of services. Twenty-one trains that previously originated or terminated at Dadar will now run up to Parel. This extension is expected to benefit many commuters who travel between these busy stations and will also ease congestion at Dadar.
The newly constructed Platform No. 11 at Dadar station will be used to further ease congestion. With 11 pairs of fast services, trains that previously originated or terminated at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) will now be shifted to Dadar to reduce pressure on CSMT. This change aims to balance the commuter load at both CSMT and Dadar, making it easier for passengers to board and alight, especially during rush hours.
Similarly, six trains that currently start or end at Thane will now extend their services to Kalyan, providing better connectivity for passengers on this route and reducing the need for additional transfers.
In addition to these extensions, fast train services will also see a shift. Starting from October 5, a total of 20 fast locals, with 10 up and 10 down services, will operate from Dadar station instead of CSMT.
As part of the revisions, nine suburban services will now operate with updated timings and new train numbers. Additionally, 10 other services will have altered originating or terminating stations. The Central Railway has also introduced nine new services between Thane and Kalyan, with stops at Kurla and Dombivli.
The new timetable includes additional halts for certain fast local trains during peak hours to enhance the commute. In the morning peak hours, Train A20 will now stop at Kalwa at 8:56 am, and Train AN8 will halt at Mumbra at 9:23 am.
Similarly, during the evening peak hours, Train BL41 will stop at Kalwa at 7:29 pm, and Train TL47 will halt at Mumbra at 7:47 pm.
These additional stops are expected to provide better service to passengers commuting through these areas, offering quicker access to fast trains during the busiest hours of the day.
Late-night travellers will also notice adjustments in their schedules. The last service to Karjat, Train S1, will now depart from CSMT at 12:12 am, while the final train to Kasara, Train N1, will leave CSMT at 12:08 am. These late-night services provide critical connectivity for passengers travelling to distant suburbs, ensuring reliable transport even during late hours.
