The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya (CSMVS) has put together a portion of its European paintings, donated by Tata brothers – Sir Ratan Tata and Sir Dorab Tata in 1922 and 1933, up on display. Titled ‘Masters – A Glimpse of the European Arts Collection’, the exhibition features about 40 paintings, including masterpieces from the Renaissance and Baroque eras, along with some Victorian examples, across genres such as people and portraits, historical scenes, religious and mythological stories, and landscapes.
Under the spotlight are five landscape paintings by John Constable (1776–1837), hailed as one of the finest English landscape painters of the 19th century in the Romantic tradition.

A tribute to the queens of jazz
They say Jazz has been dominated in equal parts if not more by women. But who were they? Celebrating the women with godly voices, who can still be heard on radios and Spotify playlists, Royal Opera House (Mumbai), Furtados and Avid Learning have put together ‘An Ode to Jazz Divas’ which will celebrate the legacy of the most iconic jazz vocalists of all time – Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Billie Holiday and Nancy Wilson.
The performance will feature an eclectic line-up of artists from Mumbai, the UK, and France – led by composer and bass player Avishek Dey, who performed with Diljit Dosanjh at Coachella Music Festival.

An art carnival for kids
Khar-based plant-based cafe Yogisattva is hosting ‘Little Yogi’s Arts Carnival’ this weekend. Curated by them in association with Book A Workshop, this two-day art and craft festival will see eight workshops exclusively designed for kids aged three and 10 years, aiming to give them a fun sensory experience as they create unique items in each activity like making fridge magnets, bottle painting, making pom-pom photo frames, creating Warli art on kulhad among others.
