Teen in custody for snatching chain

A 19-year-old boy,accused of snatching a chain,was remanded to police custody till May 8 by the Railway court at CST on Wednesday.

Kiran Sukhdev Rajver was arrested on Monday following a complaint from a resident of Vikhroli whose gold chain was snatched while he was travelling in a train to Mangalore.

According to the police,the victim,Ganesh Sunder Shetty,was seated near the window and as the train approached Vidya Vihar station,the accused snatched his chain worth Rs 50,000 and fled.

Following the complaint,RPF Dadar made enquiries and learnt that a man resembling the description of the accused frequents the Vidya Vihar station. The police then arrested Rajver from the station.

MD Pawar,senior police inspector,said,“Police recovered Shetty’s gold chain from his possession. Now he is in the police remand for 3 days.”
