An assistant engineer of the T ward (Mulund) office was booked under a case of extortion,while his associate was arrested on Friday.
According to the police,Pankaj Chandanshive (28) posed as a journalist and threatened Prakash Bhanushali on behalf of Pramod Waghmare,the BMC engineer. Bhanushali runs a curtain business at RRT Road,Mulund. Chandanshive wanted to allegedly extort money from Bhanushali,the complainant.

The BMC engineer threatened Bhanushali to pay a fine of Rs 2 lakh,citing that he had violated the civic body norms by using a residential property for commercial use, informed a police official. The two have been booked under Sections 385 (putting person in fear of injury in order to commit extortion) and 507 (Criminal intimidation by an anonymous communication) of the IPC.
