Over 16 lakh students to appear for SSC examination from tomorrow
Of the 11 sensitive exam centres in Mumbai division, five are in Palghar, four in Raigad and two in Thane.

More than 16 lakh Class 10 students across Maharashtra are expected to take the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination that begins on Friday. This includes over 3.5 lakh students from Mumbai division alone that covers Mumbai, Thane, Raigad and Palghar districts.
According to officials, under the Mumbai division, 11 exam centres have been identified as sensitive ones where enhanced security measures will be in place to curb malpractices.
The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) has taken a slew of measures under the campaign — Copy-free Exam — including identification of sensitive exam centres.
An official from the state board explained, “These are essentially where copying or other malpractices have been reported in the past. The board has reviewed reports of the past five years to identify these centres.”
Of the 11 sensitive exam centres in Mumbai division, five are in Palghar, four in Raigad and two in Thane. There is no such centre in Mumbai city and suburbs.
According to the instructions released by the state board for sensitive exam centres, there will be external staff at these schools. Additionally, there will be sitting squads at these centres along with impromptu visits by flying squads. The state government had also instructed to make arrangements of drone surveillance and face-recognition of staff at these centres. “The last two measures are not feasible at all sensitive centres,” said an official from the board.
Students have to reach their respective exam centres by 10.30 for the paper scheduled to start at 11 am. The Maharashtra State Board has also declared helpline numbers for students feeling exam-related stress. The list of numbers is available on the official website of the Maharashtra State Board.
