Maharashtra First Year Junior College registration 2025 begins (Express photo by Deepak Joshi)The office of the Director of Education (Secondary) informed that the student registration process for First-Year Junior College (FYJC) admissions will now begin on May 26.
Stating that a detailed schedule will be released soon, an official said, “With delayed beginning of student registration, the entire first round of FYJC admissions is now extended. But the process will be on without any issue.”
This is the first year that the online Centralised Admission Process (CAP) for FYJC admissions is being held across the state. Student registration for FYJC admissions was scheduled to start on May 21, after a two day practice session which started on Monday.
But the website https://mahafyjcadmissions.in/landing crashed on day one due to technical glitch and students were not able to register.
A revised schedule for the first round of FYJC admissions was expected on Thursday. Although the application process on the portal is starting late, officials have said that the students will be given ample time to fill out their forms and submit their preferences.
Until last year, the online CAP for FYJC admissions was limited to the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), Pune-Pimpri Chinchwad, Nagpur, Nashik, and Amravati.
The Maharashtra State Junior College Teachers’ Federation has strongly opposed the implementation of the centralised online admission process for Class 11 in rural areas. In a letter addressed to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, the federation has demanded that this process be immediately halted and that junior colleges in rural areas be allowed to continue admissions through the traditional offline method.
According to the federation, students in rural areas lack easy access to the internet and other infrastructure required to participate in centralised online process of admissions.
“Such a process is not feasible or affordable to students from rural parts. And in case of technical issues, the admissions will be delayed across Maharashtra causing academic loss to students,” states their letter.
