Special judge KP Kshirsagar also allowed Rhea to visit Sri Lanka to attend an event for Holi celebrations later this month. The judge allowed a similar application by Rhea’s brother and co-accused Showik Chakraborty.

Chakraborty, who was arrested in September 2020 in connection with a drugs case filed by the CBI, was granted bail in October 2020. Among the conditions of the bail was that she seek permission from the court before travelling out of the country.

On February 22 this year, the Bombay High Court had quashed a set of lookout circulars (LOC) issued against Rhea, her brother Showik and their father, army veteran Indrajit Chakraborty and mother Sandhya. The immigration authorities had issued the LOCs at the instance of the CBI, which had initiated the death case.

LOC bars an individual from travelling abroad without prior permission of the court.
