There was some drama at a Jogeshwari bar when four persons,one of whom brandished a a gun,threatened to kill all the customers after their request to play the song ‘Chikni chameli’ was denied. It was later learnt that the ‘weapon’ was actually a toy gun. The Amboli police arrested the four men in the early hours of Monday.

The accused,Ravindra Mahale (42),a businessman,Vivek Jadhav (30),Rupesh Pawar (28) and Ravi Raul (28) all of whom are unemployed,were consuming alcohol at Vilas Bar on Andheri-Jogeshwari Link Road when the incident occurred,police said. They said around 12.30 am,Mahale asked a bar attendant to play the popular Bollywood number ‘Chikni chameli’ on the orchestra. When he refused,Mahale and his friends allegedly started abusing him.

“One of the accused took out a toy gun and demanded that the song be played. However,when the demand was not met,the four threatened to kill everyone in the bar,” said senior inspector H Vhatkar.

The bar owner informed the police. A police team arrested the four under Indian Penal Code sections 506 (2) (criminal intimidation) and 34 (common intent). “The four were produced in a metropolitan court on Monday and were released on bail,” said Vhatkar.
