Small-time actor attacked in extortion bid

Juhu Police registered a case of assault on Friday against alleged members of a political party for attacking small-time actor Bhoop Yaduvanshi.

Juhu Police registered a case of assault on Friday against alleged members of a political party for attacking small-time actor Bhoop Yaduvanshi. Police quoted the actor as saying the assailants demanded Rs 15 lakh from him.

They said the complainant had been receiving extortion calls from a person,who introduced himself as a member of a political party’s cinema wing,for the past few weeks.

Yaduvanshi claimed he refused to pay. On Friday,he was allegedly intercepted by a group of people who smashed window shields of his car with a bat.

“I also heard a bullet sound,” he said,adding,“I immediately drove to the police station.”

Pratap Dighavkar,DCP (Zone 9) said a complaint had been registered based on the version of the actor who had bruises on his hands.

“After investigating the case,we can conclude if the attackers were actually from a political party,” another officer said.

The actor features in a soon-to-be-released film.
