Mumbai and several parts of Maharashtra saw spontaneous thunderstorms activities on Monday evening coinciding with the withdrawal of the monsoon. An IMD official said,The withdrawal of southwest monsoon has already started in parts of Punjab,Haryana,Rajasthan Gujarat and over the northern Arabian Sea. This season is characterized by thunderstorms and localized showers across the country. Over the next few days,as the currents will retreat from India,similar thunderstorms will continue. In Mumbai,day time temperatures rose to 35°C. In the evening,moderate rainfall was reported in the western as well as the eastern suburbs,while the city remained stormy. The IMD predicted that similar thundershowers will continue in the state,however,the activities will be localised and passing. Off Maharashtras coast,the south west currents remained weak on Monday.
