Shiv Sena (UBT) president Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday submitted a letter to Speaker Rahul Narwekar, nominating party MLA Bhaskar Jadhav for the post of Leader of Opposition in the legislative assembly.
Thackeray visited the state legislature, where he personally handed over the letter to Narwekar. During his visit, he also interacted with opposition MLAs, including NCP (SP) leaders Jitendra Awhad and Jayant Patil, reaffirming the unity of the Maha Vikas Aghadi.
“Today, we have submitted a letter to the Speaker naming Bhaskar Jadhav as our choice for Leader of Opposition. I hope that, in keeping with democratic values, a decision will be taken soon, ensuring that the state has a Leader of Opposition during this budget session,” Thackeray stated.
Thackeray clarified that there was no “2.5-year formula” for rotating the LoP position. He emphasised that the Speaker must decide on the matter before the state budget is presented on March 10, asserting that the MVA remains strong and united.
