At Shiv Sena’s Dussehra rally, Deputy CM Eknath Shinde stated that Ex-Union minister P Chidambaram admitted the UPA government refrained from striking Pakistan after the 26/11 attacks due to international pressure.

“I doubt if his shadow will remain with him after the local body polls,” says Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde, taking a dig at Uddhav Thackeray at the Dussehra rally on Thursday.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde along with other leaders of the Shinde faction of Shiv Sena, participated in the party’s Dussehra rally at Nesco, Goregaon East in Mumbai on Thursday. Addressing the gathering, Shinde criticised Rahul Gandhi, claiming he “speaks in the tongue of Pakistan.” 

Till 6 pm on Thursday, the final day of Durga Puja, a total of 281 Durga idols were immersed across Mumbai’s water bodies. Of these, 50 were Sarvajanik (public) idols, while 231 were Gharghuti (private) idols.

In his rally speech, Uddhav Thackeray said, “On one hand, they chant ‘Batenge to Katenge’ (divided we fall), and on the other, Modi himself admits that he used to share meals with neighbouring Muslim families on Eid.

Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray, addressing the rally, said, “I want to tell the BJP, before preaching Hindutva to us, first remove the green from your flag. On one hand, the BJP brands Col. Sofiya Qureshi as a sister of terrorists, while on the other, it takes out processions in honour of Bilkis Bano’s rapists.”

At the rally, Uddhav stresssed that he and his cousin Raj Thackeray’s MNS have united with the intent to remain together, clarifying that their stand is not against Hindi but against its imposition.

At the Dussehra rally, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde dismissed the opposition’s claims about the Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana. He stated that rivals were deliberately spreading lies and assured the crowd that the scheme would never be discontinued.

At his rally speech, Uddhav Thackeray says, "I want to ask Mohan Bhagwat a few questions." Turning to civic issues, he said that with BMC polls approaching, even metro stations are flooding during the rains. “Instead of running metro and monorail services, you might as well start boat services,” he quipped.

Shiv Sena (UBT) Uddhav Thackeray alleged corruption and double standards in governance, saying officials are being caught while ministers enjoy impunity, liquor licenses are issued in ministers’ names, and dance bars are being opened under the names of women related to them.

In his speech, Shiv Sena (UBT) Uddhav Thackeray criticised the BJP, calling it “an amoeba” that, like an upset stomach, has disrupted society and eroded peace.

At the rally, Uddhav Thackeray said, "Our CM (Devendra Fadnavis) is teaching us...India Today did a survey of most popular CM across India. During our times, the Maharashtra CM used to be among the top 5, it wasn't to my credit, it was about the people of Maharashtra, but in today's survey, the most popular is UP's Yogi on No 1, then Mamata (West Bengal CM), 3 Chandrababu (Naidu of Andhra Pradesh), then Stalin (of Tamil Nadu) and then Vijayan (Kerala) followed by Revanth Reddy (Telangana), Mohan Yadav (MP), Himanta Biswa Sarma(Assam) and then on 10th position is our Fadnavis."

At the annual Dussehra rally ahead of the local body elections, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray said on Thursday that Sonam Wangchuk was not branded anti-national until he praised Modi. He added, “If Wangchuk was arrested for visiting Pakistan, what should we call Modi, who met then-PM Nawaz Sharif?'

Both rallies are scheduled to begin and end around the same time on Thursday evening.

Ahead of the rally, Eknath Shinde has urged cadres from flood-hit regions to stay back and assist affected people, restricting attendance to Mumbai, Thane, and nearby districts. Uddhav Thackeray’s camp is pushing for maximum mobilisation despite the rain. 

The Shinde camp has completed arrangements at Nesco, while the Shiv Sena (UBT) faced rain challenges at Shivaji Park but has not shifted indoors.

Both leaders are expected to take sharp digs at each other while asserting their claim to being the “real Shiv Sena.” Uddhav may focus on legacy and opposition unity, while Shinde highlights governance and alliances.

This is the last Dussehra rally ahead of local body elections and future rallies would be joint affairs with allies: Shinde Sena with the BJP and NCP, and Sena (UBT) with Congress and NCP (SP).

The Shinde-led Sena will gather at Nesco Grounds in Goregaon, while the Uddhav-led Sena will hold its rally at Shivaji Park, Dadar.

The Shiv Sena led by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, and Shiv Sena (UBT), led by Uddhav Thackeray, will go head-to-head this Dussehra evening, Thursday, with parallel rallies in Mumbai.
