CM Shinde has arrived in Davos for a three-day tour trip to World Economic Forum (Photo:X/@CMOMaharashtra)At a time when Chief Minister Eknath Shinde landed in Davos for a three-day tour trip to World Economic Forum to attract investments in Maharashtra, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis held a meeting at Mumbai with Surjagad Ispat president Sunil Joshi who pledged Rs 10,000 crore investment in Gadchiroli.
Surjagad Ispat is investing Rs 10,000 crore in Gadchiroli’s greenfield integrated steel project. The development augurs well for industrial growth in the backward region Vidarbha.
Joshi, on Tuesday, met Fadnavis at his official residence in Mumbai on Tuesday, wherein Joshi committed to invest the money in the naxal district of Gadchiroli in Vidarbha. The project is expected to generate 8,000 jobs. The official decision was conveyed to the media by the state government after the meeting.

Global standards and advanced technology will be an integral aspect of the project, and the company would strictly adhere to all environment concerns, Joshi assured the government.
Fadnavis said, “We are committed to the overall development of Gadchiroli. We want to provide employment to locals. Gadchiroli has the potential to become the steel hub of India.” For this, the state government will extend all help to the project in Gadchiroli, he said.
Joshi is participating in the World Economic Forum in Switzerland where he will sign the MoU with Maharashtra government in the next three days.
During his tenure as Chief Minister (2014-2019), Fadnavis had decided to wipe out the naxal tag from Gadchiroli district, which is abundant in mines and minerals.
