The special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) Court on Tuesday directed the Mumbai police investigating the Indian Mujahideen (IM) case to give a copy of a few documents seized by them from alleged IM operatives to their counterparts in Hyderabad.
The court directive follows a plea from the Hyderabad police seeking details like the arrest panchanama and details of seizures made from accused,Sadiq Shaikh,Ansar Shaikh,Mohammad Akbar Choudhary,Anik Syed,Farooq Tarqas and Anwar Bagwan. The plea stated that they required the details for helping in their investigations. The IM operatives who were arrested by the Mumbai crime brach are also believed to be involved in the bomb blasts in Hyderabad in 2005.
The crime branch of Mumbai police had recently filed its final report against 21 men,accusing them of sending threatening e-mails to various media organisations minutes before the blasts took place in Delhi and Ahmedabad. The report also stated that the group is alleged to be involved in several blasts across the country since 2005. Many of the accused are thus in the custody of various state police,investigating various blasts.
