(Representational Image)Days ahead of the polls for the four legislative council seats, Sena UBT Sunday alleged that Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-Sena distributed money to teachers and other staffers in Jalgaon, where the MLC polls for the Nashik teachers constituency are scheduled to be held on June 26
Sena UBT leader Sushma Andhare posted a video on social media and alleged that Shinde Sena functionaries are distributing money to teachers of the district after the meeting of CM Shinde in Jalgaon.
The Shinde Sena, however, denied the allegations.
The polls for the four Legislative Council seats — Mumbai and Konkan Graduates and Nashik and Mumbai Teachers Constituencies — are scheduled to be held on June 26.
In Nashik Teachers Constituency the contest is among three key candidates that include an independent Vivek Kolhe, Mahayuti’s Kishore Darade and Maha Vikas Aghadi’s Sandeep Gulve.
“Chief Minister Eknath Shinde held a meeting at Aditya Lawns in Jalgaon to campaign for Mahayuti candidate Kishore Darade. After this meeting, money was distributed to the teachers, staff, principals, directors of every school in the district. Where is the Election Commission?,”she alleged in her post on X with a purported video of the incident in which a man can be seen hanging over notes to another man.
Speaking to mediapersons, Andhare said that there are more such videos and that she will file a formal complaint with the Election Commission. “In the video it is clearly visible that those who were in the uniform of teachers were given money by Shinde Sena’s office bearers,”she alleged.
Responding to the allegations, State Minister and Shinde Sena leader Shmbhuraj Desai said, “When you are making such allegations against Shiv Sena, just using a video, one must first verify whether it was the rally of the Sena and the people were Shiv Sainiks. I request to send that video to the election commission and let the inquiry take place. We have no objection to it. But this is just an excuse which they are preparing for losing the polls,”
