Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi urges Govt to help DJ imprisoned in Sharjah on fake drug charges
In her letter to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar seeking help for the release of DJ Clayton Rodrigues, Priyanka Chaturvedi also cites the case of actress Chrisann Pereira.

Priyanka Chaturvedi, a Shiv Sena (UBT) Rajya Sabha member from Mumbai, has urged External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to take immediate action to repatriate DJ Clayton Rodrigues, who has been imprisoned in Sharjah, UAE, for over 18 months on drug charges that a Mumbai police investigation has deemed fabricated.
Chaturvedi said that Rodrigues was framed by a Mumbai-based baker, Anthony Paul, who has reportedly deceived several others through the same scheme.
“The Mumbai crime branch chargesheet clearly states that Rodrigues was not aware of the drugs that had been planted in his bag,” Chaturvedi wrote in her letter to Jaishankar. “Despite this, he has been detained for over 18 months in a foreign country.”
She also highlighted that another Indian citizen, actress Chrisann Pereira, had fallen victim to Paul’s actions and was arrested in Sharjah before being rescued by Indian authorities.
“Given that the proof for his release is already available in the chargesheet, I urge you and your team to take immediate action and repatriate our young talent at the earliest,” Chaturvedi wrote.
“The culprit in this case and others who fell prey to his ill-doings have already been released and it is only fair that Rodrigues is released from jail and allowed to return to his life back in Mumbai,” she added.
