Sena activists granted bail in IBN attack case

A sessions court on Tuesday granted bail to Sunil Raut,brother of Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut,and 19 other Sena activists in the IBN Lokmat attack case. They were arrested on November 25,2009,for vandalising the channel’s office and assaulting its staff.

The court had earlier rejected the bail application submitted by the accused after observing that there was prima facie a case against them. Sunil and the others had filed fresh bail applications in December 2009 after the police submitted the chargesheet in the case.

The court accepted the defence plea on Tuesday and granted bail to them on a bond of Rs 25,000 each.

A group of Shiv Sena activists led by Sunil had ransacked the news channel’s office alleging that it showed their chief Bal Thackeray in bad light.
