The much-awaited second entrance test for admission to BCA/BBA/BMS/BBM and MBA/MCA integrated courses will be held on August 4. The Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell declared the date on Thursday.

A total of 49,225 candidates have registered for this examination including 19,430 females, 29,791 males and four others.

This is a great relief for lakhs of students waiting for admission to these popular professional courses at undergraduate (UG) level as the Common Admission Process (CAP) cannot start without the result of this CET. Students were waiting in uncertainty until now as there was no clarity on when the exam will be held.

From this academic year, admission to popular Under-Graduate (UG) courses–Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS), Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) and Bachelor of Business Management (BBM) are based on CET, unlike the conventional practice of considering Class12 marks.

Maharashtra CET Cell already held one CET for these courses on May 29 for which over 55,000 students appeared. Following multiple complaints that many students missed on the exam due to lack of awareness about the changes, the CET Cell announced that there will be one more CET for admission to these courses. While registration for the second exam began late in June, students were waiting for the date of exam.

One of the candidates who had appeared for the exam in May said, “I am waiting for admissions as the CAP cannot start until both CET results are out. Because of this, even as I promptly appeared for the test, I have kept waiting for over two months now.”

Now that the result date is out, students are complaining that they have to wait for another month for CAP to start as the exam date is in August.
