Scared at sight of cops,drunken man falls off building

Fernandes is a taxi driver who resides in Ramshyam Wadi near Tilak Bahvan in Dadar (west). According to the Dadar police,he had allegedly started drinking after reaching home in the afternoon. He was in an inebriated state when the police reached there,said the police.

“At 6:30 pm,Sharma realised that a medicine box went missing from his house. He then started shouting thinking that a thief had entered his house. Later he then saw Fernandes’ door open,” said Assistant Police Inspector M Chavan.

“Despite repeated knocking at door of Fernandes’ home,he didn’t opened the door. Sharma thought that a thief had entered Fernades’ house. Thinking that his neghbour’s life was in danger,he called up the police. We sent a team of cops. Our officers stood outside Fernandes’ house and got ready to apprehend the ‘criminal’. When he saw the policemen though the keyhole,all Fernandes could think was to get out of the house to avoid the ‘arrest’. Suddenly,he removed the glass pane of a window and tried to climb down the drainage pipe. We heard a thud,when he slipped. So we rushed to the spot only to see him on the ground,injured. We rushed him to KEM Hospital,” said Chavan. Considering that the incident happened beacuse of misunderstanding,the Dadar police did’t register the case.
