Sarabjot case: ED conducts fresh probe

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is conducting fresh investigations in the Sarabjot Singh case. The CBI had recently filed a chargesheet against Sarabjot,son of National Commission for Scheduled Castes chairperson Buta Singh,in a graft case. The ED stepped in after a plea by co-accused Dukh Singh Chauhan asking the court to return some documents seized by the CBI. The ED had opposed it stating a previous case under FEMA. The court had then ordered,”the scope of inquiry has enlarged so it would be premature to release the documents…”.

CBI raid on railway doctor’s house
The CBI-ACB (Anti Corruption Bureau) on Friday raided the residence of Dr Savita Gangurde,head,nephrology at the state-run Byculla Railway Hospital,for allegedly accepting commissions worth lakhs of rupees from a pharma firm. “The company has in the past two years deposited huge amounts in Gangurde’s bank accounts,” DIG Pravin Salunkhe said.
