Family member of actor Salman Khan who has been on the radar of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar have expressed concerns over the security provided to the actor given that five rounds were fired at the building, of which four shots hit the building. According to a source, what particularly scared the family was that one of the four bullets was lodged in the balcony of the flat where the actor, who enjoys Y-plus security, resides. The actor was sleeping at his residence when the firing took place. “The family expressed concerns to senior Mumbai Police officers about the incident that took place outside Galaxy apartments. They were surprised that despite Y-plus security, in addition to security provided by the local Bandra police station, the accused could fire rounds and escape,” the source told The Indian Express. Five policemen are deployed for those with Y-plus security, in addition to a security vehicle from the local police station stationed outside the person’s residence, a police officer said. Police are checking whether there was a change of shifts or the officers concerned had gone for refreshments, leaving left a window for the accused to fire and flee. “We are going through CCTV footage of the past few days to see if the accused conducted a recce to find out loopholes in the security,” the officer added. The officer said that the actor’s security was upgraded to Y-plus in November 2022 from X category after threats were issued to him by gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. Soon after the attack, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde spoke to Salman Khan over the phone and assured him of increased security. The CM spoke to Mumbai police commissioner after which it was suggested to increase his security. Some leaders of the opposition questioned how the incident took place despite the police protection. Shiv Sena UBT Rajya Sabha MP Priyanka Chaturvedi tweeted, “The Home Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis and this illegitimate government are directly responsible for the breakdown of law in Maharashtra. The shoot out outside Salman Khan’s house is not just shocking but also shows their inability to focus on governance over their politics.” NCP (SCP) MP Supriya Sule said, “It is extremely unfortunate as the area where Salman Khan lives is a very popular area and his family is obviously under pressure. Apart from this, there are so many senior citizens and children going to school at the early hour. What about their security? Clearly it is a complete failure of the home ministry.”
