Drenched in blood, actor Saif Ali Khan walked into the hospital “like a lion” after being stabbed multiple times at his Bandra residence by an intruder, the Chief Operating Officer of Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital said. He was accompanied only by his young son Taimur Ali Khan, Dr Niraj Uttamani added.

“I was the first one to meet Saif Ali Khan when he came to the hospital. He was drenched in blood but he walked in like a lion with only his small child, Taimur. He is a real hero,” Dr Uttamani told news agency ANI.

The hospital COO added that the 54-year-old actor is now “doing well” and has been shifted out of the ICU.

“He walked in only with his son (into the hospital). In films, people do ‘herogiri‘ that is alright. But during an attack like this at home, he has acted like a hero and has come out (of such a thing),” the doctor said, adding the National Award-winning actor’s parameters are normal and he is recovering.

The attack on Saif Ali Khan

Saif Ali Khan was stabbed multiple times by an intruder at his Mumbai residence in the early hours of Thursday morning during a failed burglary attempt. With a knife lodged in his back, Khan rushed to the hospital at around 3am where he was taken for surgery.

Khan was operated on and a 2.5 inch piece of knife blade lodged close to his spine was removed. Doctors said the spinal fluid has been repaired and he is out of danger. He had a total of six stab injuries on his arms, neck and near his spine.

Khan’s wife, actor Kareena Kapoor Khan and their two sons – Taimur Ali Khan, 8, and Jeh Ali Khan, 3, were at the house when the incident occurred. The intruder had entered the actor’s younger son’s room first and demanded `1 crore from the nanny, who was with Jeh. He attacked and injured the nanny and another house help before attacking Khan, who had rushed in to the room, trying to protect his family.

In a statement to media, Kareena Kapoor said the family was “doing fine”. The statement read: “We request media and fans to be patient and not speculate any further as the police is already doing their due investigations. Thank you all for your concern.”
