Another incident of railway police committing atrocity on people came to light when an RPF constable at Kurla beat up an assistant driver, who was crossing the line to reach his depot (for staff) near the tracks. After repeated threats by Motormen Central Railway to suspend the train services,if action was not taken by RPF,the constable was suspended on Monday.

According to railway sources, assistant loco pilot Anil Kumar B was going to the depot from Kurla station to LTT. Meanwhile,a constable,T. Wankhede, caught him and Anil told him that he was from the railway staff. He said that there was no way to reach the depot but to cross the railway track. The constable did not listen to him and when he protested, the constable started beating him.

“When motormen got to know about this, they threatened the RPF to suspend the constable or else they would go strike. Then RPF had to suspend the constable,” said a motorman at CST on condition of anonymity.

SC Parhi, senior security commissioner RPF Central Railway, said,“Keeping in view the motormen protest,we have suspended the constable. Everything will become clear after the inquiry.”
