Requited love

Fan clubs,letters written in blood,marriage proposals and even temples – the denizens of our film-crazed nation have offered love,money and a lot more at the altar of their favourite matinee idols. And now,Bollywood is finally giving some of that love back in Yash Raj Film’s show with Sony,Mera Sabse Bada Fan Banega Mera Hero. The show,to be hosted by director Karan Johar,will have 26 celebrities in a search for their biggest,craziest fans.

The promotional video,which is already on air,has Johar explaining that this is Bollywood’s way of giving back a little bit of what they owe to their fans. It also features clips of actors Salman Khan,Ranbir Kapoor,Kajol and even music composer AR Rahman,although Sony and YRF are both yet to officially announce the list of 26 celebrity names. Rafiq Gangjee,vice president of marketing and communication,YRF,says,“It is true Karan Johar is hosting the show. Whatever you see on Sony is all the information we’re giving out.” The auditions for Mera Sabse Bada Fan begin on October 31 and the show is slated to go on air early next year.
