Police yet to trace accused in Malad kidnapping case

The television serial actor, Rahul Singh,who owns production companies Magnum Hopes and Yuva Tiger Entertainment had approached the Malad police after he reportedly escaped from the captivity of his kidnappers. According to Singh’s complaint,a financer for a music album in his company identified as Heera Patel (25) and her two accomplices had kidnapped him from near his residence at Dheeraj Solitaire society in Malad (West).

Singh said he was abducted and threatened at gunpoint by two men late on Monday night.

Police said Singh and Patel,who stayed in Mangal Nagar at Yari Road,had started a music album venture for which Patel had given him Rs 20 lakh. When the venture fell apart,Patel asked for her money and Singh gave her a cheque for Rs 15 lakh,which bounced,said the police.

Police said a case on the financial dispute is pending in court. According to Singh’s complaint,he was in his car when two men approached him and allegedly assaulted him and took him in his vehicle. They allegedly threatened Singh with a revolver.

Police said the accused panicked when they noticed a police nakabandi,which gave Singh chance to escape. However,the two fled with the car and Singh suffered injuries in the incident,said the police.

Singh further alleged that he later got a call from Patel’s mobile number and a male voice instructed him to collect his abandoned car from S V Road.

“We are trying to trace the accused and verify Singh’s claims,” said inspector S Prabhu of Malad police.
