The Mumbai police on Saturday took preventive action against four supporters of Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange Patil and made them give an undertaking that they will not create any trouble.

The four were among five persons who were found loitering outside a hotel in Churchgate where Jarange Patil’s supporter turned critic Ajay Baraskar was staying. Police had detained two of them on Friday after suspicion that they may harm Baraskar and registered a case in the matter.

Senior inspector of Marine Drive police station Nilesh Bagul said that under Section 151(3) of CrPC, they have taken preventive action against four of five persons. “They were produced before court where they were told to stay off limits from Mumbai till March 5,” Bagul said. According to Bagul, the supporters intended to seek clarification from Baraskar, regarding his alleged derogatory remarks against Jarange Patil.
