According to senior police officers, after the death of Muslim male whose body was found on the roadside, news spread that it was a case of “a Hindu murdering the Muslim male and dumping his body.”

Officers said the local Azadnagar police station received several phone calls regarding the rumour in Vajdai area, which spread across the city and led to a large gathering of crowds. “We immediately made mobile calls to a few police mitras of that area requesting them to reach the spot. Some of those who helped to contain the situation were Sajid Ansari, Amin Patel, Jamil Mansuri, Gurfan Popatwale and Aslam Pathan,” said a senior police officer.
