1 lakh applicants for CIDCO’s housing scheme
Extension of deadline likely to draw more

The City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO)’s ‘My Preferred CIDCO Home’ mass housing scheme has reached a significant milestone with more than 1,00,000 applicants for its 26,000 tenements. Launched on October 12 this year, the scheme continues to draw widespread interest, showcasing its appeal among citizens seeking affordable housing.
Responding to public demand, CIDCO has extended the online registration deadline to December 26 this year, allowing more applicants to participate. “The decision to extend the deadline was taken after many applicants were unable to complete their forms due to the Diwali festival and Maharashtra Assembly polls,” said a CIDCO official.
The corporation expressed confidence that enthusiasm for the scheme will persist in coming weeks, with more people expected to register before the new deadline.
CIDCO’s housing scheme offers 26,000 tenements under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and Low-Income Group (LIG) categories, aligned with the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). These homes are spread across well-connected and developed nodes of Navi Mumbai, including Vashi, Bamandongri, Kharkopar, Kharghar East, Kharghar West, Taloja, Mansarovar, Khandeshwar, Panvel and Kalamboli.
The overwhelming response to the scheme reflects public trust in CIDCO’s housing projects. “Drawing more than 1,00,000 applications shows CIDCO’s credibility in the housing sector and the strong demand for affordable homes in Navi Mumbai,” said the official.
To make the application process more accessible, CIDCO has relaxed certain documentation requirements.
Applicants are no longer required to submit barcoded domicile certificates or notarised affidavits on high-value stamp paper. This adjustment has made it convenient for more people to apply for the scheme.
The extended deadline aims at providing citizens with additional time to gather required documents for registration. CIDCO said the scheme offers an opportunity to experience Navi Mumbai’s lifestyle supported by excellent infrastructure, connectivity and quality housing.
With just weeks remaining until the new deadline, CIDCO anticipates surpassing the current milestone as more people take advantage of this opportunity to secure affordable housing in one of Mumbai Metropolitan Region’s most sought-after locations.
