The police had claimed that Tuli had returned to Delhi a day before the incident, and Tuli had called him on the phone and told him that she was going to take the extreme step.

Pandit in his bail application said that when Tuli did not answer his calls, he returned to the city, and went to her house.

Since she was not opening the door, he called a keymaker and got the door opened, and found her hanging.

“…as a law-abiding citizen, the applicant (Pandit) took her to the hospital in order to save her, however, the said efforts become infructuous,” the bail plea said filed through lawyer Aniket Nikam said.

The bail plea further said that there was no evidence to indicate that he had caused abetment to suicide.

“It is submitted that the entire custody of the applicant by itself is contrary to the provisions of law as even on the face of it and even by any stretch of imagination, it cannot be said to be a case of abetment to commit suicide,” the plea adds.

It further says that there is no requirement to keep him in custody further. The plea will be heard on Monday by the Dindoshi sessions court.
