No credible leads in Pansare attack, but probe on right track: Fadnavis

“We will make all efforts to nab the culprits who committed such a dastardly act,” said Fadnavis.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday said there was no credible lead in the attack on communist leader Govind Pansare but maintained that the investigation is on the right track. “We will make all efforts to nab the culprits who committed such a dastardly act,” said Fadnavis.

The chief minister also added that Pansare’s wife Uma, who was also injured in the attack, can provide valuable information enabling investigators to draw a sketch depicting the attackers.

Primary reports have suggested that the modus operandi for the attack was similar to that of the assassination of anti superstition activist, Dr Narendra Dabholkar in August 2013.

Meanwhile, the National Human Rights Commission has taken suo motu cognizance of media reports on the attack on Pansare and his wife by some un-identified persons in Kolhapur on Monday.

It has issued notices to the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police demanding reports within four weeks.
