With the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) showing tremendous industrial and commercial development, there is a steep rise in population in the area. The region saw inflow of people from across the country resulting in the formation of large slum areas with no basic facility. The concept is to provide basic facilities and improve cleanliness in these areas. SPARK,Jan Seva Labour Society,Yuvak Pratishthan and Seva are the NGOs involved in the first phase of the drive.

These are special toilets for physically challenged, women and children, besides providing facilities to men too. The toilets are provided with 24-hour electricity, water supply and a full time caretaker. The community-based organisations will be appointing suitable candidates as caretakers at 500 sites where a total of 30,000 toilet seats are being installed.
