Towards the end of this month,a three-decade old art gallery, formerly in Cuffe Parade, will move to Kala Ghoda. The commercial art gallery,Gallery 7,was initially set up in Fort in the mid-70s as a small venture. The owners,Chandra and Arun Sachdev, felt the need for a bigger space now. The new location at Rampart Row is a 40-feet space, with high ceiling, wood and iron beams typical of the architectural styles of the structures of Kala Ghoda. It will open on April 26 with a show “The Moderns” that will feature works by the Bombay Progressive Artists group. A total of 25 works from stalwarts such as MF Husain,Ram Kumar,SH Raza,VR Gaitonde and Tyeb Mehta mostly representing works from the 50s and 60s will be on display.
