NCP (SP) leader Anil Deshmukh says his book ‘Diary of Home Minister’ to be released soon

Ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly elections, senior leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharatchandra Pawar) Anil Deshmukh announced Tuesday that his book, detailing how he was forced to bring down the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government, is ready and will be available soon.

While making the announcement about the Diary of Home Minister, Anil Deshmukh said on X, “When I was the home minister in the Maha Vikas Aghadi government in the state, I was falsely accused of conspiracy. #ED and #CBI interrogated me and I was imprisoned for 14 months”.

“There was an attempt to topple the Mahavikas Aghadi government by putting pressure on me. I suffered a lot. I wrote a book on this while I was in prison. The book called ‘Diary of Home Minister’ is ready to be printed and it will soon be available in the market in Marathi, Hindi and English languages,” his post, roughly translated from Marathi, read.

Deshmukh, 74, is likely to contest the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections 2024 from his traditional Katol seat in the state’s Nagpur district.

He was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in November 2021 in an alleged money laundering case. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) also initiated a preliminary probe based on the April 5, 2021, High Court order and registered an FIR on April 21. The ED probe into Deshmukh’s financial transactions was in line with a CBI probe into former Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh’s allegations of corruption against the NCP leader.
