Navi Mumbai man is 13th Pune blast victim

Two more people succumbed to injuries on Saturday taking the Pune blast toll to 13 on Saturday.

Two more people succumbed to injuries on Saturday taking the Pune blast toll to 13 on Saturday. Atul Ganpat Anap (30) of Navi Mumbai and a Sudanese student,Amjad Ahmed,died on Saturday.

Atul’s wife,Rita,also injured in the blast,is still in the ICU of KEM Hospital.

Atul and Rita were shifted from Jehangir Hospital four days ago. Atul was still on ventilator when he died. Atul and Rita were shifted to KEM on relatives’ demand. They had gone to Pune from Nerul in Navi Mumbai,for Rita’s job interview last Saturday. “They were to return the same day. They must have stopped at the bakery for a meal,” said a relative.

Amjad Ahmed was a BSc second year student of Wadia College and a talented volleyball player. His family will take his body to Khartoum for last rites. “He was a jovial person. I cannot believe I won’t see him again. He had invited me to Sudan,once we complete graduation,to study more about the geology of the oil-rich nation,” said Lavina Antony,his classmate. His teachers too remember him as a jovial individual.

Doctors had earlier amputated both legs of Ahmed,who had won many accolades for his volleyball performance and was a football enthusiast as well.
