MVA to kick-start Maharashtra poll campaign from Mumbai on Aug 20

The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) is set to kickstart its poll campaign for Maharashtra assembly polls on August 20 in Mumbai, marking the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.

All India Congress Committee (AICC) Maharashtra incharge Ramesh Chennithala held a meeting with senior leaders on Sunday to finalise the details of the programme.

“All the leaders of the party across the country will be in Mumbai on August 20 to mark the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi whose birthplace was Mumbai. Party president Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi will be here. Our allies Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar will also attend. It will be the beginning of of MVA’s poll campaign for Maharashtra,” said Chennithala.

It would be the biggest assemblies organised by the party in recent period in Mumbai, Chennithala said, adding that the discussion on seat-sharing within the MVA will take place in a joint meeting of the MVA on August 7.
