The DN Nagar police on Saturday arrested one Deepak Piswal, the fourth accused in the Keenan Santos (24) murder case. Santos friend Reuben Fernandes (29) was seriously injured in the incident late on Thursday night, which followed an argument the victims had with some alleged eve-teasers.
Police said Piswal had been booked for helping Jitendra Rana, the main accused in the case who has already been arrested, and his accomplices.
Rana who was arrested by the police on Friday told them about Piswals location, following which he was arrested early on Saturday morning.
On Thursday night,Santos and Fernandes had gone out for dinner with one Avinash Bali and three girls to Amboli Hotel, when Rana had allegedly passed remarks on the girls, angering Santos. Santos shoved a drunk Rana, after which the latter left but returned with several friends including Sunil Both,Satish Durgaj and Piswal who were arrested.
Rana, who was carrying a knife, allegedly stabbed Santos and injured Fernandes.
In order to identify the rest of the group involved in the attack, the police had asked the hotel to provide the grabs of the CCTV camera installed at its entrance.
However on Saturday, the officers found that the CCTV was not working at the time of incident.
Though we dont have the visuals,we know the boys as Rana had given their descriptions, said inspector V Bhoite.
