Mumbai woman catches diamond ring thief flaunting her jewellery on Instagram
According to the Mumbai resident, she had employed the woman at her house for around 10 days in 2023.

A woman in Mumbai’s Khar on Thursday lodged a police complaint about her missing diamond rings and an earring worth Rs 8 lakh and said she saw her former help flaunting one of the stolen ornaments on Instagram.
According to the Mumbai Police, the wife of a businessman said the five diamond rings were stolen from her house 18 months ago and filed a complaint against her former house help Sanjana Gujjar, after which they booked the accused.
The police said Gujjar was employed by Nandita Thakkar between January 12 and January 21 last year, as one of her two housemaids had gone to her village. When she returned, Gujjar was relieved from the job.
As per the police complaint, Thakkar attended a function on December 16, 2022, and after the event, she kept the diamond rings and an earring worth Rs 8 lakh in the safe in her house. On February 19, 2022, when Thakkar opened the safe, she found the jewellery missing. She asked her house helps and also contacted Gujjar about the stolen rings. All three women told her that they did not know anything about the stolen diamond jewellery, Thakkar stated in her statement.
Thakkar told the police that when she was browsing Instagram at home on September 10, she saw the photos shared by Gujjar. In one of the photos, she saw Gujjar wearing her stolen ring, said a police officer. Thhakar then suspected that Gujjar was the one who stole all her diamond rings and an earring, the officer added.
On Thhakar’s complaint, the Khar police lodged a complaint and booked Gunnar under Section 381 (theft by servant) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
